Episodically the LCD panel on my Becker Radio BE1480 in my 1990 300E will go Crazy. It reads most of the possible carracters and renders the radio usless . I try to correct by disconecting the battery, typing in the code etc but it only gets better when it decides to come back usually with all the original presets. Is this a common problem?

I have seen this before and I usually say to replace the radio with a good aftermarket. (Alpine or equiv).
