280SE Stereo Deck

Hello everyone, I have a 1979 280se, and I want to install another cd payer in place of the old becker that doesn't work. How do I go about taking the becker out and installing the new deck? Also what controls the antenna, because the antenna switch doesn't work anymore. Please help!

If you take the knobs off and then the plastic trim insert on the front of the radio it then will expose the mounting bars that hold the radio in. two 10 mm bolts loosen them and take the bars out then the radio should come out of the dash. Sometimes the upper case cove will catch and keep the radio from sliding out. Once you have the head out then there is an amplifier attached to the large gray cable. The center underdash trim panel comes off and this is where you will find the amp where the connector is. As far as the power antenna there is a single wire ( blue) coming off of the amp that is the trigger lead for the power antenna if your antenna is full auto if there is a momentary rocker switch that controls the antenna then it is semi automaticand doesn't go up and down wiith the radio. ( your antenna is probably bad by know but there are a few ways to handle it) Let me know whats up and I will give you more insight! Don't be afraid to post some pics! Dose this look like your dash?

No this deck doesn't look like that. It has the air conditioning setup on top, then the deck, then the ashtray. The antenna works sometimes and then quits, kinda like radio. What plastic insert trim are you talking about?

The pic was of the car not the becker radio( probably too early of a 280 se). around the knobs there is a thin plactic trim that wont come off till you take the knobs off it has horizontal stripes on it.
