1984 300TD speaker

hi,

Can anybody advise me what size speakers fit in the rear of a 1984 300TD (wagon)? The speakers are mounted on the roof just in front of the rear tailgate.

Regards,

Carl

Carl, it is barely a 4 inch size with some work to fit them into the stock bracket!

Thanks for the info; perhaps I should rethink having the rear door panels replaced on the wagon my mechanic is fixing up for me. The PO put crummy Pioneer 5.25" door speakers in the bottom of the panels in the rear doors and I was going to have them removed to put the car back to stock. Perhaps I'll mount my ADS 5.25" in the doors. I hate seeing the panels cut up, though; looks like hell.

Any suggestions? The other thought is to use high quality 4" speakers front and rear and get a portable powered woofer that I can take out when I need to. Something like that Infinity Basslink. Any experience with that item?

Regards,
Carl

Thank you; at least the CD changer issue is settled. I bought that fellow's Nakamichi MB 75. Now, I simply have to cross my fingers and pray for the relibility god to bless my complex little receiver. That unit has a pretty clean 4 channel internal amp, too; nothing ever takes the place of the McIntosh amp, though. Any idea if an amp three inches thick will fit under the rear seat?

I think I'll use the doors and leave the rear speakers stock and run them for a liitle noise in the back off of a spare little ADS 5.2 stereo amp if I can find the room for the two amps (Mc and ADS).

The rear door option is probably still a good idea for sound as the stock rear location is worthless. If the holes are already there then you dont have to do any more cutting at least. The sub is a good idea and there are mant different ways to handle it, but the bass link is the simplest.

hey i have a wagon and ive put infiniti kappa 42.1i's in the front and rear. and i have a 1ft cubic woofer that's in the back. easy to take out. not a problem at all. i put the amp under the rear single flip seat. all the wiring is hidden. if you have any further questions feel free to ask!
