The dash is @5" and the rear deck can take anything from a 5" up to a 5.25" and larger with modifications. I sell a european brand 5" made for the 124 cars that is a simple drop in if you are interested.

I thought the front dash on the 124 would only accept a 4-inch speaker. (??) I know the rears can use a 4, possibly a 5.25 with little or no mods (depending on basket dimensions). Any more requires cutting and it's often hard to get a good seal so you don't lose bass response.

gsxr If you don't believe me about sizes on the 124 then I don't know where you are coming from! I work on these cars every day and many people on line have bought the rainbow 5 in speakers that fit front and rear on the 124 car............ Do we have to beat this to death?

Hi Scott,
No, I was just wondering if you made a typo! Other than the Rainbow, I thought most aftermarket "5-inch" speakers (Polk, Boston, Quart, Infinity, etc) would not fit in the dash without cutting. I have heard this from others numerous times. I thought chaser was originally asking what size speakers he should buy for the car, not just the dimensions of the stock speakers (which are a little weird). What I meant was that most "5's" he'll find in stereo shops may not fit. Please correct me if I'm wrong here, I'd like to know, and you definitely have more experience than me on this topic! Obviously the simple route is to get your Rainbows, which pop in w/o mods. BTW - what is the price of the Rainbows (front and rear), and are there several models to choose from? If so, what's the difference? Regards, Last edited by gsxr; 10-11-2002 at 09:30 PM. |

Most of the speakers you buy in the stores are 5.25" not 5" and that seems to be the part that confuses people. The rainbows are $160 per pair and $300 for 2 pairs. The only model rainbows I import are the sl 120's. See yah!

Yeah you can fit 5" diameter speakers in the dash, but keep in mind the DEPTH.
The rears are a bit funny because the stock speaker clips into a plastic frame. If you want to fit 5.25's you'll either need to fabricate some mounts or be creative. |

The raiinbow speakers would work fine with your system.

They are great for a coaxial speaker. Ask the people that have them in there cars to give you an unbiased opinion on them.
