Radio Code Problem. Something New!

I am having a problem entering the code on my 1999 E430. It just shows CODE with the "C" flashing. When I try to enter the code, nothing changes ont he display. No numbers show up. I am not doing it incorrectly. Is there something wrong with the radio? Have any of you ever encountered this? I didn't get locked out either.

Thanks,
Chris

I had that once. I went to the dealer, who did a Blaupunkt search on the radio to discover that it wasn't the original Blaupunkt. He got the code for the radio's serial number and I was good to go. Charged me nothing! Had it been Toyota, or anything else, the dealer would have charged me!

Actually, that's not the problem, but thanks. It won't let me enter anything at all. Usually the numbers show up on the display as you enter them, than you need to confirm "ok". When I press the numbers nothing changes, it just shows CODE. Can anyone help?

Try disconnecting the radio's power source for several minutes and then reconnecting.

I'd go along with the advice on trying it after disconnecting the negative cable on the battery. You will also need to turn the steering wheel lock to lock a couple times to initialize the steering angle sensor. Are you 100% sure it's the right code, you've used it before? And you're using the numbers on the phone pad to enter the code?

Not on a 99. The one with the round "SC" button was 94 up through middle of 98 or so.

I disconnected the deck from behind the deck for several minutes, same thing. That should have the same effect as disconnecting the battery, right? I think there just might be something wrong with the deck. Gilly, what does turning the steering wheel from lock to lock do? Thank you all for your replies.

Moving the steering was to relearn the steering angle sensor which is needed after you disconnect the battery. It has nothing to do with the radio except that he was suggesting the battery cable method of resetting the radio programming. You would also probably have to relearn the windows and sunroof if you disconnected the battery.
