1985 380SE Antenna Wiring
I brought my car to a mechanic to fix the power antenna. He replaced it with a universal model (HIT 2040) that does not work.
I believe the real problem was that the antenna cable was not connected to the radio. I went to put the original antenna back, and discovered the mechanic had cut the wiring to the antenna, thus removing the connector. I have ordered the housing from Mercedes, but they tell me they do not know what wire goes on what pin. There are five pins available. The wire colors Are: Brown: Red: Red/white: Blue/white: Blue/green: Blue/yellow If anyone can help me, I would be very grateful. I have tried to get the schematic everywhere (almost) and have come up empty. Please, please, please help a woman just trying to make things work. |

The sad thing is I bought a 300SEL a couple of weeks ago and the antenna unit was one of the items on my list of things to fix. I went and looked at it and the reason it's not working is that it's completely gutted. The housing and large plastic gears are still there, but no motor and the wires had been cut, so no connector either.
Fortunately, I have another Mercedes that I could look at. The plastic pin on the housing unit goes between pins 1 and 2. The pin locations are marked on the connecter. Here's the wires that go on them: 1: Blue/Yellow 2: Red 3: Empty 4: Blue/Green 5: Blue/(White or Grey) 6: Brown
