I really need to add some rear speakers to my 1980 450 SL. I have seen the almost $700 replacement rear deck in the catalouges but I think I can accomplish what I need much cheaper. (I work at Best Buy and Car Audio offers me one of my best employee discounts).

I can see that I can probably place two 6 1/2" speakers in my removable, horizontal, rear luggage floor. What I would like to know is, can I add rear speakers to the vertical area???

The top half of the "behind the seat" area is consumed by the space required to hold the convertible top in it's down position.

What is occupied by the lower half or this area - allowing for speakers placed in the forward position?

I would prefer to have speakers facing the back of the seats rather than facing the sky.

What are my options?
