Would appreciate advice on the following issues for my recently purchased 300SE: 1. how do I 'service' (change, clean, add fragrances to) the active carbon filter for the A/C? Previsou owner was heavy smoker. 2. the manual mentions some sort of screen that can be placed at the sun roof. Are there other options, such as adding a glass roof? 3. what are the central dash board 'non-heated' vents for? How do I use these concurrently with the A/C? 4. is there a way to defeat or adjust the automatic volume compensation for the stereo? I find it increases the volume too much for me. 5. is there a way to have the recirculatory switch always on for the A/C? 6. is there a better after market manual, for questions such as these? Thanks in advance for any thoughtful answers. Love the car!! - dan

The carbon filter is outside the car in the engine compartment. It should be done by a shop. If you do want to do it we sell the parts in partshop. The filter is under the plastic cover that is near the windscreen under the hood. There are 6 #3 phillips screws holding it down. Do you have the owners manual? It should tell about the AC in depth.

'92 W140s has steel sunroof standard, and glass sunroof optional. The screen(or shade) you are talking about is probably for glass sunroof. Does your 300SE has steel roof??

As for the automatic stereo volume adjust, there's no way to change it. It's preset to increase volume at certain speed.

Glad you like the car.

The only way that I know of to deffet the timmer in the rec. air is to have the temp wheel set at Max. at least that the way it is with my 86' 300E.
Chris.
