my factory-installed Becker Grand Prix radio in my 1989 190e2.6 sometimes "freezes up" when i turn on the ignition, disabling the controls and displaying random patterns on its LCD display. With the controls disabled, i cannot turn the radio on. Sometimes, after a few days (after ignition on and off cycles), it comes back to life (one tends to take the radio for granted until that long drive without it).
the only way i can reset it is to disconnect the battery momentarily so it can reset itself. This works most of the time, but not all the time. Since i did not want to wear out the screws of my battery connector, i installed a screw-type kill switch at the battery terminal, with which i can easily interrupt the battery power. anybody else experience this problem? any help will be appreciated. |

first quess would be to try a new radio faceplate, or make sure that the pins are straight on yours....
