radio help for 300 se
I am having an aftermarket radio put in my 89 300se. The fellow is a 30 year professional, but is stumped on the installation. I ordered a wiring harness from Crutchfield for the car and he is telling me that the plugs do not even come close to what is needed. He is wondering also if there is an amplifier in the car and if it will even work with the aftermarket installation? Can anyone help me with this that has changed out the old Becker and put in an aftermarket? Again, I have an 89 300 se. Any suggestions for easiest installation?

I wonder if he ever work with MB's...
Check in the audio section for help. I don't have answer to your particular questions but, I got a radio harness from Crutchfield. I did the installation myself and I had no problems whatsoever. Granted, we have different model but since he is a professional I can't see the problem. Good luck

The late 126s have amps behind the rear seat backs. Some (Becker 1432) even have the tuner innards in the trunk next to the fuel filler.
The easiest thing to do is run speaker wires to the area behind the rear seat back. A 30 year veteran should have no problem identifying the speaker wires. If you need help with the pins or wire colors, let me know. If there is no antenna cable at the head unit, you'l have to run a cable from the antenna or the tuner section to the dash. radio`
The radio is installed. It sounds great (much better than the old Becker). The only problem is that you hear in the speakers a slight motor buzz or humm. He felt like if he added a suppressor to the system, that would quieten the noise. Do you know of anything we can do to kill this buzzing or humming? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
