SCLJA-Audio 10
A member here has offered me a Becker Audio 10 for my 94S350.
Scott my question is will this work as a simple plug in without any mods? The radio is from the UK if that makes any differance. |

yeah, unless on SOME and very rarely you'd find them on car stereos. but what i know that you can always see them on walkmans and discmans which have digital tuners, it's usually a swtich that says (.1mhz/10khz) or something similar.
just look at the european spec of the headunit ur interested in and look at it's tuner specs and see the starting and ending frequiencies. japan has the same problem too, but it's on a different scale. |

FM Modulator
This may be a little late to post a reply, but what the heck!
You can buy an FM modulator and that will fix the FM tuning problem. It's simply a little metal box which plugs into your antenna socket on the radio, and your antenna plugs into the modulator. It allows AM signals to go straight through it without being affected - it only adjusts the FM tuning of the radio. |

An fm modulator is for adding an auxilary source not changing the tuning frequencies that are controlled by the tuner inside the unit. There is no such device.......

sorry, my mistake
Sorry, I used the wrong terms. It is actually called an FM converter. Here in Australia we can buy an FM converter which is for use with Japanese import cars. This is because these cars come with Japanese FM tuners and the Japanese FM band is unique in the world, covering 76-90MHz. The converter subtracts a fixed frequency from the local station to enable the FM section of the radio to work. It allows AM stations to go straight through unaffected. I thought there may be a similar device available elsewhere to do a similar thing.

I have an audio 10 CD radio in my car from UK. It works fine on all FM stations without modification. Get most all AM stations as well.

I also have the audio 10 unit and have no trouble with reception.
Unit can also control cd changer in trunk but, how can I determine whether the changer has to be fiber optic or non? Original becker head unit was non fiber optic ('98 E320) but I'm not sure about the audio 10. Anyone know?

yep .. imports
Yes, many guys here in Australia import cars from Japan ... there's plenty of imported Nissans ...
And yes, the Audio 10 CD is fibre-optic capable. Last edited by MeeM; 02-18-2004 at 01:42 AM. |

Sura , a member on this forum sells Audio 10 CD Players and he reprograms them to US Frequencies. I sent him a PM so maybe he can help all of us out by telling us how to do it.

So, the Audio 10 is fiber optic capable. Next question then is, if my car was prewired for non fiber optic cd changer but now has a head unit that is fiber optic capable, which cd changer will work?
I'm guessing the cable and harness from original cd changer prewire will not accomodate a fiber optic changer but the head unit will not work with a non fiber optic changer. Anyone know for sure? Audio 10 head unit was an easy plug and play install, 10 minutes tops.
