Question C220 Radio/Cassette removal

I would appreciate some knoweldgeable help with removal of the wooden center console panel that covers the radio, climate control, etc. in my '94 C220. I need to remove the radio/cassette unit for some work, but I don't know the correct (safe, no damage, etc.) way to remove that panel. I have removed the two screws near the underside lip of the panel above the cassette storage area, but that does not appear to release the panel. I don't want to pry in the wrong place since I don't want to damage the panel.

Thanks

Thanks Don for the info. I was not aware that special tools are needed. (Can't find any source for a repair manual or CD for this model, not from MBZ or anyone else!) Are the tools used at the radio and that releases the entire panel? I don't see the slots that the tool description mentions.

Thanks.

If you have the factory stereo, you have the slots. Once you push the tools in, they click, and then you just pull the stereo out with the tools.

Regards,

Don

Buy the tools and stick them in the slots on the corners of the stereo. I bought my tools from eBay. Auction Link

Regards,

Don

I bought my radio removal tool from this web site.

$6.95 + ship.

http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/dealers/specialtytools.html

It's as easy as 123 with the right tool!

If you need any info on the removal of the center console let me know.
