dvd plater in 300E

I'm trying to figure out how to put a single din dvd player in the 300E. the way the din is, the climate controls are right above it coming outwards. Meaning if one installs the dvd in the din then the screen wont be able to come out and stay verticall.
any ideas ?

Thanks for the reply to my post.
I, however, have posted this topic on this forum to get a technical advice from someone who has experience installing a dvd player in a 300E.

I've been wondering the same thing.

I rented a BMW X5 in New Jersey that had the GPS Navigation system built into the dash, and ridden in my friends S500 with GPS, and ever since I've been dreaming about installing it in my car.

If you've seen GPS work, you'd be a convert.

I've had the same concern: will the DVD screen articulate out far enough to clear the wood console above the radio where the HVAC controls are, so that the screen can rest in the straight / vertical position?

The problem in our W124's is that the radio is so recessed. I don't really care if it partially blocks the HVAC buttons or even the temp wheel as I rarely change the settings. If you have the temp wheel adjusted to the proper temperature, you are rarely going to adjust it again and again and again. On the other hand, I am constantly changing the radio station, changing CD's, etc.

Benz300,
Have you considered taking your car to in to have the HVAC controls relocated to where the radio is now and mount your dvd player where the HVAC controls were?:)

Spacers

Hi guys,
I don't know if you got a solution to your question. But my neighbor is a wiz at Car Audio, I just installed a DVD Nav system on my 380 sel, the setup is different, so it fit's really well, but I asked him the same question about the 124, He said he would put spacers to bring the unit out more, then the screen would open and sit the right way. No doubt the the GPS is great. Especially with the higher end ones Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine.

Here's a trick install (interior in general !)
of a Pioneer DEX-P9 HU in the upper air vent.

It uses a fiber cable to link to a processor unit
in the trunk....

This was a car in Sweden, not mine.

I am waiting for Pioneer to offer the unit in black....

nice

Nice looking!!!

So what did you put where the original radio was. Looks like some carbon fibre kit to cover?

and whatever happens to the center vents ??? :)

That car is a show car. It's featured in the December issue of Car Audio & Electronics . According to the article, only the display is mounted where the center vents should be. The rest of the radio chassis is in the factory location.
