Location of Amplifier in a 1991 420SEL

I purchased a Blaupunkt CD/Radio from Crutchfield, only to discover that I need to wire the speakers directly, and bypass the factory installed amplifier. Can you tell me where to find the amplifier?
Also, would you suggest the best way to do this? In other words, should I find the amplifier and wire "around" it, or should I wire each individual speaker from its location to the new radio (much more complicated, I think)? Example: I haven't figured out how to pull off the little seat adjustment knobs so I can pull the door panel off....etc. etc.
Thanks for any help you can send me......

The power amps are behind the rear seat seat-back

Check the thread I started on the Nakamichi MB-75 - wiring info is included there.
