Why does my radio turn off
I have a 1994 C280 and the antenna drops whenever it wants. This turns off the radio (or casette), the radio still appears to be on as all lites remain on at the dashboard. (Everything is original and stock). When this happens I turn off the radio and turn back on. Sometimes the antenna comes back up and it turns back on, sometimes it trys to come back up and then drops and sometimes it stays stuck down. If the antenna is down the radio stays off. There isn't any pattern that I can see, it's not bumps, not outside temperature, not length of time car/radio is "on". I am not getting any clear answers from the dealer nor the after market installers. Anybody got ideas or had this problem before. Thanks

The radio provides power to the automatic antenna. It is usually a blue with white stripe wire from the radio on an aftermarket unit. I can not say what color it would be on your deck. It could be simply loose at some point from the back of the radio to the antenna somewhere. Find someone who has and can operate a multimeter and trace the wire. Hopefully this will be of service to you.
