560SEC audio
I have a 89 560SEC with an original head unit. The previous owner installed on of the first generation 10 CD changers (late 80's Denon/Sony) with a seperate control installed in the ashtray and the CD changer (only the changer) is connected to a Nakamichi 4x45 channel amp. It works OK but here is what I am wondering;
First, I would like to replace the speakers and I am not sure what sizes I need to get. Front - 4x6? Door- 1/2"? and rear-?? Second, I would like to get some bass and what is the best way to do this?

The dash takes a 4x6 or there is another option. The rear deck takes a 6.5" and the front doors are a 6.5in. As far as bass there is a clean way to do free air sub/subs through the rear deck with custom grills through the 1st aid kit location. This is far better than working with the front doors.

thanks, I will try that. I also have seen sub boxes in the trunk and ported through the deck? Freeair subs are mounted at the deck and using the trunk as a box, right?

Yes, you can do it either way but with the gas tank under the rear deck your sub box will take away a lot of trunk space.

Here is what I have done so far. I went and installed 4x6 Infinity (seperates) Ref. Series for the front (had to trim the plastic on the speakers), installed 6 1/2" Polk Audio in the doors and the rear deck. I bypassed the crossovers in the doors to get full sound and I removed the 6 1/2"s out of the rear deck rings and installed the new ones I left the stack tweeters alone. Should I connect them to the Polks? Sounds great however, It does not have the bass the stock speakers had so I ordered a 12" Kenwood Sub, deep single enclosure and a 300 watt Pioneer amp. I am not sure when I will be getting it but I hope it is soon.
thanks.
