Becker Grand Prix - AM Gone
 

Without warning the AM on my 1989 300SE's Becker Grand Prix stopped working. No sound whatsoever comes out of the AM frequency. FM works great. What could be wrong? How much might it cost to fix? I want to keep the car original, so I have no desire to upgrade the unit.

There are quite a few vintage Becker units on E-Bay from time to time. That might be the most cost effective answer.

This has happened to me too. It was "fixed" by unplugging the power from the radio for several minutes and then plugging it back in. It has been working now for almost a year. Obviously, I have no idea what happened but it worked. :)

If you want it to be perfect try Becker http://www.harmanbecker.us/ - but it's really expensive. When I called they wanted $120 just to clean it and recalibrate the tuner.

I forgot about I had called this place too and they were cheaper. The customer service was excellent also. I bought some buttons that were missing off my radio from them. They even sent some extra buttons and springs for free.
