Antenna motor noise without movement
If the antenna motor makes a noise, but there is no movement, and I can't even force the mast up or down, is it possible its only the mast that has to be replaced?
Does that make sense, or should I do something else to troubleshoot it? Thanks

Makes PERFECT sense!!!
Obviously, something else could be wrong here, but it sure sounds like another mast has bitten the dust. Why don't you simply remove the mast and check the plastic teeth that engage with the motor. If they're stripped (likely), pick-up a new mast from FastLane and you'll be good to go!

Some (if not all) of the antenna assemblies have a small belt that drives the spool that drives the antenna up and down. The newer antenna's use a worm type gear in its place.
Removing the antenna assembly is easy, dissasembly is even easier. If it is a broken belt, Hirschman I believe offers a replacement. It may be on Fastlane also...I have not looked. Good luck. CK |
