cutting back seat panel on w123?

Howdy,
Still in the process of building my system in the '79 300D I am thinking of cutting the metal panel that's between the trunk and the back seat the area that's behind the rear arm rest and positioning the box so that the sub is directed into the cabin rather than the signal bouncing around in the trunk and finally making it's way into the cabin area does anyone know if this is possible? I have read in a few past posts that the fuel tank is located some where in this area is this true wouldn't want to cut into the fuel tank...Any suggestions would be apprecieated.
Getting my Adire Audio Brahma 15" reconed should be back in 1 month powered by a MMATS d300hc modded amp that's 1 ohm stable may have to do a high out put alternator in the near future though which sucks as they are around $400 for a 260 amp large case alt.
Just would like a few suggestions if u's don't mind.
Thanks in advance,
HogLeg

Do not cut away the 'metal panel'. It provides structural integrity and your gas tank is pressed up against it. If you remove your first aid kit from the rear shelf it would allow the bass to enter the passenger compartment easier. Check to see how much it would cost to have your present alternator rewound for a higher current availability.:)

As was previously posted, just remove the first aid kit.

I've a system in my 123 300D - 2 12's, each powered by a 300 watt amp, and a 4x300 to power the remaining speakers. I've never had any problems with charging, even with all my accesories turned on while the car is stopped.

Click on the link to the Mercedes in Erikirs signature/post.
That is a prime example of getting bass in the passenger compartment while avoiding a hack job.:)

Nice system....

Just checking the forum and looking at the reply post's, I followed the link to erikir sounddomain page and looks great this is what I am planning to do similar in my '79 300d...just found out that I need a new blower motor for the a/c as it's starting to get hot & humid and it's only March 3rd...South Florida is heating up as we speak...
Thanks for the link for the install and for all the help.
Aloha,
