Cool Getting new stereo, what do you guys think?

Well after being totally bummed about the sound in my 1991 500SL I just said screw it and went and got a system, its going to go in on Friday. Here is whats going in, please feel free to critique or suggest.

JL XR653CS 3 way component system for the front.
JL 3004 75WX4 amp to power the component system.

JL DVC 10" subwoofers (2 of them) to be custom installed into the rear hatches, custom fiberglass boxes and custom new hatch doors.
JL 5001 500WX1 amp to power the subs.

They also threw in the Escort ZR3 laser jammer and are installing my Bergworks 1st gear shift kit.

Im just hoping I am not going to need mid/high sound from the back, I can always drop in a couple of dome tweeters I suppose.

I am keeping my existing Eclipse 7002 head unit/TV screen with the matching 8 disc changer, but I will upgrade this next when the new Pioneer comes out.

What do you guys think?
(Sorry Scott, would have loved to have gone thru you, but you seemed to busy to respond to my PMs!! )

Sorry Scott missed you

Hi spinedoc,

We had another virus problem with the network here at La Jolla Audio. Unfortunately, E-Mailing suffered badly. We lost all E-Mails and addresses and had to reformat all the computers one at a time. A slow process to say the least. The lack of communications with fellow Mercedes owners and the questions asked on this Forum were difficult to handle at that time. All is ok now and should you have any questions or future needs please feel free to contact Scott or I. We were not ignoring you or anyone else. Turned out that the virus came from our ISP, however, they deny it.

I am hoping they dont have too much trouble with the doors. They said they can make the 61/2 fit in fine, but they arent promising they can get the 3.75 speaker in there. I think the component system has a 4", so Im hoping they can shove it in somehow. THey actually wanted to leave it off and only have a 2 way system in the front, but I said no way.

They also are pretty sure they cant fit in 12" in the back with the custom boxes. Would 2 12's sound that much better than 2 10's?? Remember I dont blast my music usually, but I do like it fairly loud.

Scott/Cleeve what is your experience in adding subs to the earlier SL's? Do you see a need for midrange/high in the back, or will a good component system in the front and only bass in the back sound balanced?
