129SL speaker impedance
What is the speaker impedance for the door speaker group for a 91 SL with the 1432 system?
I bought a set of NOS speakers for my car, and I think they are the wrong ones. The abs speaker enclosure is definately the SL type, but the woofer and midrange are wired together in parallel, with only one connector plug per enclosure. Since the 1432 uses different amps for the woofer and midrange, these were obviously meant for a different SL system The smaller speaker is marked as 6ohm, the larger as 3ohm. On the box is a sticker that says 3 ohms. Can I still use these in a 1432 system if I hardwire them to the correct wires? Thanks, Roger |

Roger they are the speakers from the 94+ car that has a completely different system in it (2 way front system). The upper speakers are only tweeters and yours are 3.75" mids. These speakers are not going to work properly for your car!

Oh well, time for plan B I guess. I really wanted the system to be original, but thats $280 for new speakers. I have a set of Boston Acoustics 3 ways I was going to use, but that means also finding room for the crossovers, and also the ADS amp I have. I was going to sell that stuff on ebay. Those Boston crossovers are huge!
Thanks for the info Scott. Email me your address so I can send you the payment for those connectors we discussed. Thanks, Roger |
