Radio faceplate removal E320 w/tel

Hi want to send my radio faceplate for servicing. The liquid cristal display is missing a line on top of the display and one button is missing on the phone/radio keypad.

I have a E320 wagon 4 matic with the intergrated radio/telephone from mercerdes

Can I take only the faceplate off for servicing at the MB radio shop?

If so, there are 2 small slits at the bottom right and left corners of the plate. Would this be an access to remove it?

Thanks for the help guys..

The two "slits" you mention are for the removal of the head unit itself.

I don't think that the Becker 1492 & up allow you to remove the faceplate, but I may be wrong. :D

No, the faceplate won't come off that radio.

Does this means that the two slits unlock the complete radio from its socket with no further dismantling?

Would I have to remove part of the wood panel?

In my 89 I had to remove 2 screws from the ash tray frame and then in minutes I have the radio in hand...

Thanks...

Yes, it's that easy. BUT you need the special tool "keys" to remove the radio. Once you get the tools, the radio is the easiest to remove.
