The temperature here in Montreal is very cold (-25 C) (-13 F). This morning when I turned the ignition off the radio would not turn off. None of the controls on the radio worked. It was frozen. I removed the No 2 fuse from the fuse box and then it went off.
After this the radio ik OK andturns On and OFF with the front control. What is the problem. I do not want to go under the Hood in these cold days each time this happens and remove the fuse. The radio is orignal Becker and the car is 300 SEL 89. |

Sandeep:
Call the Becker Radio people on their toll-free number and ask them. They know more about their product than any of us have had our individual little events. Their number is 1.888.423.3537, extension 200. They are friendly, knowledgable, and are sure to be able to help.....Andras |

Thanks for giving the phone number of Becker Radio.
The tech was acknowledged the problem and he was also able to guess the year of the car. He said 88 and 89 models have this problem. The microprocessor in the radio locks up when the temperature is very cold. Cost for replacing the chip is $165 canadian. |

Thank you for letting us know how you resolved your posting. It is very courteous of you, and allows us to feel good that we were able to make a contribution, and not just "whistling in the wind". I wish all primary requestors acknowledged our suggestions.....Andras |
