190E 2.6 total audio system replacement
All the speakers in my 1992 190e are fried. I plan to replace the radio with a Kenwood unit with in dash CD player. Is it possible to get satisfactory sound using only the dash and rear speaker positions? I would replace the front (dash) speakers with a 4 inch model from Alpine or Boston Acoustics and the rear deck with 5.25" speakers of the same manufacturer. My thought was to simply ignore the sub units in the front door panels and attempt to use the fader control supplied by the Kenwood unit. Is this a good idea?
Thanks, Gary |

Yep, but I would go with Infinity or Pioneer. I've had nothing but excellent sound and compliments when I had all Pioneers in my truck. This time around I'm putting Infinity in my MB, front and back as you're doing but adding a sub in the trunk. I personally never, ever, liked using kicker or door panel speakers. I would rather use Q-forms if I really wanted low-placement front speakers.

The 190E can take up to 6.5" without hitting any metal in the rear deck. 6x9's require some metal triming, but not a lot. Or there are custom rear decks (hat racks)
