Alpine CD changer compatibility
 

I read in another forum that the Alpine CHM S630, with some adapters, is compatible with the stock head unit on a w140. I have two questions: (1) Is it compatible for all years, more specifically 97 or newer? (2) I noticed that Apline also offers another 6 disc changer, CHM S634, is this one also compatible? The only significant differences are the ability to play MP3s and display the CD titles. While I could care less about displaying CD titles, I would love to have the ability to play MP3s and still have the convenience of the stock head unit CD controls.

Yes, you can use either changer the 634 requires another cable and then you need a mbzil adapter.

So all the CD controls on the OEM head unit will work? Seems logical, but how about when you have an MP3 CD in the changer? Don't you usually group tracks into folders? Does the OEM head unit display the folder and track titles and allow you to navigate through the CD?
