560SEL CD changer install
Did an installation on a customer's '91 560SEL today of an Alpine CD changer. This was the first one we've done so we got to be creative in the installation. We mounted the translator pack on the panel which covers the fuel tank up in the top right corner and routed the wires to/from the amplifier pack behind the trunk spring out of sight. We mounted the changer itself underneath the decklid on the right side so it would in essence hide the translator pack.
The screws that came with the translator were tiny and there was absolutely no chance that we were going to trust them to hold it in place on the panel so we substituted some small sheet metal screws in place of the original ones. It turned out very nicely. The one dilemma was where to mount the changer unit and we were torn between the right side "valley" in the trunk floor or the underside of the decklid. We finally decided that keeping it up high would allow maximum use of trunk space and would also keep the wiring neater. By the way, the car does have the factory Becker 1432 radio in it which did make the installation smooth thanks to the wiring harnesses.

I didn't think after market CD changers would work with a 1492 Becker. I have a 1991 560 SEL with a 1492 (which has a CD mode switch) and would like to add a CD changer. What model Alpine did you use and how did it turn out?
