Audio volume changes with RPM, any way to disable this?

1996 SL500 and I have the stock system in it. When I rev it high the radio gets louder, and vice versa. This is seriously annoying. Is there any way to shut this off?

This is the most annoying thing I have ever had. Sometimes when I am accelerating and try to lower the volume, it actually stays the same or goes up!!

Someone on here has to know!! Where are the "experts" ??

Volume

When I replaced the antenna boot on the SDL I didn't get the grounding strap tight. It was getting dark and just hand tightened the screw. The next day I was experiencing similar problems. Did a re-check of the work, tightened it down, now all is normal. Probably worth a check

In short yes there is a way to do it, but do you really want to?

On the radio plug there is a vechile speed sensor wire. If you only disconnect that wire on the radio plug then this feature will go away (or at least in theory it should). Only problem with doing this is that is is not worth the effort. You have to pull the radio, and find the correct wire.

Now I am sure there is someone that knows what color wire the VSS is on your car, but unfortunately that person is not me.

Thanx Shanta, I guess its not that annoying of a problem, but sometimes it does bother me!!

Tx where is the grounding strap for the antenna? Im assuming in the trunk on the left?

300SE the rims on my 91 are Neeper Concept 18". They are actually too much of an offset and have chewed up the front fenders pretty badly, still need to roll them out and touch them up. If you do a search for them you can find them with the correct offset (25mm front, 23m rear). Just got new Dunlop FM901's on them and they ride very smooth and get lots of looks.
