Aftermarket head unit and Factory 190e alarm

Hey all:
Just wondering, does the factory alarm in my 1987 190e 2.3-16 work with an aftermarket head unit or does it have to be disconnected? Can I somehow make it work? Thanks.

I have an aftermarket head unit (Nakamichi) in my '87 16-valve. The factory alarm works fine, I just set it off the other day by accident.

Thanks for the input. It may just be disconnected, but I want to make sure it works. There is a sony head unit in there now from the previous owner, but when I install an Alpine I want to get it right.

I may be confused. Are you talking about the car alarm or a radio alarm? My car alarm works fine and I don't know if there's a connection between the car alarm and the radio head unit.

I was referring to the car alarm.
