Unhappy WHy did my radio stop working?

A little background information first. The car is a 1982 300TDT. The audio is all original except for the head unit. I took out the non-working Becker about 2 years ago & installed a Pioneer. I think it's model P3300.

A few weeks ago the wifey told me her radio stopped working. I went to investigate. The problem is, the radio is ON, but nothing is happening at the speakers. The face of the radio is lit up but has no letters or numbers on the digital readout. The antena is always up, even with the ignition key turned off! To make the antena go down & stay down I had to pull the radio out & disconect it from power. While I had it out I checked all of the connections. Everything looks good. all connections are tight. I also took out the middle consol & cleaned the contacts on the balance wheel (& the window buttons while I was at it). The ground is good & all fuses that I can find are good. Please point me in the right direction so I can iron this out.

I still have the original Becker. I'm thinking I need to hook it back up so I can at least know whether the problem is with the radio or something else.

Thanks

Well here's an update. I took out the Pioneer & put the Becker back in. I turned it on and got static. I was pleased to hear it. Better to hear static than nothing. I turned the tuning dial & got the little "blips" of stations as a tunned past them. I tried to tune one in clear & couldn't. I then remember why I took out the Becker in the first place. Well seeing that the Becker worked I put the Pioneer back in & hooked everything back up. Nothing, nadda, zip...... What do I do? It kinda looks to me like It's the Pioneer that's bad, and not something wrong with the car. Although I hate to think that it the pioneer. It's only about 1.5 years old & I spent a little too much on it at the time.

Any suggestions?????

Pioneering the Pioneer

Can you isolate the problem by putting power and a speaker/antenna to Pioneer? It sounds like the Pioneer is the trouble --with the Becker making some noise when swapped out but this would validate it.

TX76513,
I can and will do as you suggested. I have been thinking along these same lines anyway, just haven't made myself get up and go do it yet. Thanks for the reply.

If your in Morgans Point you are only about 8 miles from me. I'm in Deer Park.

Texas has started to run out of names for cities and is using re-runs. The only Deer Park I am familiar with is Houston Area down by the "boggy bayou". MPR is 1/2 hr from Bush's place out on the lake.

Oops. I didn't see the "Resort" portion. Although it's always good to see another Texan on here.

Later, and thanks for the help.
