W124 antennae motor

This is odd...I just had the upper wiring harness replaced on the 500E....the antennae now goes up when the car is started; not when the radio is turned on. And it goes down when the car is turned off. I didn't think the wiring harness for the motor relates to any of the radio stuff; is it?

There's obviuosly a wire wrong somewhere, would I look on the radio rear, the motor or the antennae? I'm sure my dealer will fix it pro bono but if its just a crossed wire that I can switch myself, then I won't be sad when the car is away from me. TIA for any ideas.

Behind the head unit is a wire separate from the primary bundle that has a label on it indicating "antenna" or something like it. When I replaced my head unit with an aftermarket one, I simply connected that head unit's "antenna" lead to the one in the car-works like a charm.

That said, I really can't imagine how this functionality could've changed...unless somehow the leads to the radio have received some sort of altered power configuration.

A few questions - If you have your radio on and shut the car off, does the radio stay on but the antenna retracts? What about if you have the car & radio on, then shut off just the radio, does the antenna retract?

This one's tricky - hope we can help you figure it out

It sometimes goes down when I turn off the radio while driving. Sometimes it'll stay up after turning the radio off. Sometimes it will stay up for a minute or so after turning the radio off then go down. I haven't turned off the car with the radio on so don't know that yet. It always goes down when the car is turned off though. Its not a big deal but its not right.

As I said..its odd...like it has a mind of its own. Carriage House also changed out a faulty window switch...I bet they munged up the wiring somehow.

Did you resolve this? My antennae works intermitantly, too... many of the same symptoms you described. I'd love to hear what the issue was. Thanks!
