Radio Security Code
I am new to this. Any help would be good. Just purchased a 1991 300SE. I have the security code from an MB dealer. But all I get is the WAIT. Do I have to wait the 24 hours in order to get the CODE notice? Is there any work around on this?

If you've tried entering wrong code once, then you must wait 15 mins with the stereo on, before the WAIT msg disappears, then you can continue with the correct code.
If you've entered 2 (or 3, not sure) incorrect codes then you must wait 24 hours with the stereo on continuously during that period before the WAIT msg will disappear so that you may continue. Good luck ~Paul |

Radio security
Thanks Paul for the help. I got a 5 digit code from the dealer, but I understand you only use 4. The first digit is a 0, should I ignore that. Anyway, the 24 hours expires Sunday morning, we will see. This forum is a great tool. Thanks.

Hey Robert:
To be sure, head over to this board: http://members4.boardhost.com/beckerboard/ and pose your question there. 4 digits should be the code, and if I remember correctly you push the * button first, then enter the code. Good luck! ~Paul |

As of M.Y. 1990 version Becker radios
Recoding sequence:
1. Turn ignition key to position 2. 2. Turn radio on. "CODE" appears on the display. 3. Enter the fist digit of anti-theft code from CODE card. "CODE" will disappear and the entered digit will flash on the display panel. 4. Enter the remaining three digits (total of four digits). If a wrong digit was entered, turn the radio off and then on, CODE will reappear on the display, then continue with step 3. 5. When all the digits have been correctly entered the radio operation resumes. If unsuccessful: 6. If WAIT appears on panel, the radio must be left ON until CODE appears. This may take either 15 minutes (if WAIT is flashing) or 24 hours (if WAIT is not flashing). 7. Once CODE appears, continue with step 3. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The "0" at the beginning makes no sense, especially since this is a 4 digit code. You could ignore it, but if the remaining 4 numbers don't work, I'd try something else. If you want to, try emailing me "gillybenztech@yahoo.com" with your VIN number and radio serial number (radio needs be removed to get this) and I can try Becker for the correct number. Gilly

Radio Security Code
Thanks for all the advice. At 12 hours and 25 minutes the WAIT turned to CODE and the 4 digits did the trick.
