Sony CDX-CA400- -- 1973 /450sl

I instaled the unit in the car about a year ago . Iget decent FM reception which fades periodically but my AM reception is crap. Are there any suggestions as to a booster. I checked all the connections and ground. Thanks

buy a radio antenna booster off ebay, they work wonders for AM reception.
