When do I need to use one of these in my system?
I have 2 amps that Iwill be installing a 700watt rms and 300watt rms, do I need one of these or can Isave $150? Thanks,

I guess you can try without it first. If your lights dim when playing your system, then you need one.

I have a 1600watt peak amp (haha) made by Legacy which are known for being power hungry and the only time I have seen the lights blink or dim is with the headlights on, a/c on, and stereo fairly high. I have a Capacitor that I got for 65 dollars waiting to go in but it's really not a big issue IMO

Look on ebay you can get a Legacy for 55 without a digital read out or one with for around 70
