Becker AM/FM Cassette
I recently posted a question about resetting the codes in a Becker Radio. I have since found out that it does not have code, just needs to be reprogrammed. Becker NA wants 60+ dollars plus shipping to do it plua about a week and a half turnaround. Does anyone know how to reprogram these units? Also I'm looking for the wiring harness for the back as the plugs off the back dissappeared. Anyone have these?

Confused.
What radio do you have? All of the becker radio manuals can be gotten on the becker site at http://www.beckerautosound.com. Specifically, at http://www.beckerautosound.com/soundadviceonline.html
The manual will explain how to code the radio. If it's the original radio, the code should be on a card in your owner's manual. If not or no card... from Horst Becker....."Remove the radio and find the model and serial number from the product label and then ask your authorized car dealer to help you find the code number. If this doesn't work call Burl in our parts dept. at 888 423 3537 x209 and ask for a code card replacement. There is a $ 30 fee."

Certain beckers (eg 87 Grand Prix) don't have a code anti-theft feature, at least not the one that requires that you put in a code when the 12v is disconnected (they WILL if the anti-theft wire is disconnected when the alarm is active).
What happens is that the internal battery dies and then when the 12v is disconnected, all the presets disappear and the radio ceases to function. Then you have to have the battery replaced and the radio reset by a diagnostic machine at the factory or dealer. |

I disconnected the neg battery cable (94 E320) to do some ignitional coil work and the damn Becker CR-210 doesn't work. It ask for a code and the "7" digit doesn't register when I press the button. So am I out of luck? If I purchase the card like you suggest, can I ask that it doesn't include the number "7" as I won't be able to key it in? Thanks, guys.

Re Becker Codes
For what it's worth, I needed the code reset on my 87 Grand Prix. Took in into the dealer who hooked up a machine to the unit and it took all of ten seconds and no charge...
You might also want to see if the unit has a fuse on the back. I've heard when they start to go (my fuse didn't like having the power cut and then reconnected) you can have random problems (ala the 7 not working?) John 87 420SEL 00 C230K 00 A4 2.8Q |
