Nokia 6310i question
Everywhere I read, all I need to put my SIM card into an unlock 6310i, it would work. Well, I took the SIM from my 6340i and put it into the 6310i, it did go to the Cingular menu but no service. Did I miss anything?

I assume you have signal strength as shown on the right side of the phone. If your phone does not get a proper signal (you are not in a service area, you have a bad antenna connection or you are not where you can get a good signal), the name of the service comes up but you have no signal on the right side and if you dial a number, it will not work.
Also, is the phone set for automatic or manual "system selection"? Menu 4-4-4, select automatic or manual. According to the book, "If you select automatic, the phone automatically selects one of the celluar networks available in your area. If you select manual, the phone shows...." Your phone must be "unlocked" because if the phone is "locked", you will never get to this point. Instead, it will stop at turn-on for you to enter a code. |

Thank, I set it according to what you suggested. However, I could not use the short cut feature to get there. And what it did was to answer yes and no to confirm the SIM card. After that, the signal strength bar is up.
