Question Radio/CD/cassette making clicking noise

Hi, I'm new to this site. I have a 2000 ML 430 with 75K on it. Today a clicking noise began emulating from behind the screen on the sound and navigation system door. The sound continued with the radio turned off and with the engine off and key removed. I disconnected fuse 21, a 25 amp fuse, and the noise stopped. I can’t open the sound door to see what is wrong, but believe that it is probably the navigation CD making the noise. Recently our CD changer stopped working, it is located in the back of the SUV. Any suggestions would be appreciated, starting with how to open the door on the control panel. Thanks
