Hi

I actually have several questions but my main one is about the antenna on my 190E. When the radio unit is on, it extends fully up. I mainly use the cassette/CD function of the radio and rarely listen to radio stations. So, as you can see, I have no use for the ant. mast. I want to keep the ant. down, but the switch that controls its length does not work. Is this a fuse problem? How easy is it to fix it?

This question is really not technical, but I want to know why MB designed asymmetrical side view miiros on their older models. What was the purpose?

Thanks.

As to the antenna. I would first verify that you have a real MB five wire Hirshman antenna.

Many cars get a three wire replacement in the aftermarket and these can't be controlled from the switch.

It the antenna is right the next step is the wiring diagram.

To add to Steve's comments:

Do you have the original radio? Many replacements do not "tell" the antenna to retract when the CD or tape is played.

Stock Becker's do not tell the antenna to disappear when the cassette is in use. It's up when you power on the radio. It's not a fuse b/c the mast functions up & down normally. Pull the trim and check the switch. Not very hard to do. Otherwise, Steve has the right ticket for you.
