Acc power wire on '86 300E

Greetings All,

I am curious as to where the red wire that is suppose to be from the acc going to rear of my radio comes from as it is not hot when the key is turned to the key number one position.

Thanks,

Charles

Are you sure the red wire is for the acc? I know on my 190E....the acc wire wasnt red. Maybe you should try a different wire.

Pretty sure the wire is red and maybe white

Greetings,

Tried to get on the 12volt forum, but of course you have to be a member before you can use the forum, unless I'm doing something wrong. As far as the correct wire color and what it is suppose to do, I think I'm correct on this one as there are no other wires left and the other one is definitely powered up all the time.

Thanks,

Charles

Intensive troubleshooting

Greetings All,

After removing the ashtray and also noticing that the glove compartment wasn't lit with the key in the acc position I investigated futher to find the entire problem to lay at the cigarette lighter where power continues to the glove compartment as well as the acc position for the radio. Kind of seems like British thinking for wiring but it made it all work again, so it's once again 100% working. Keep all this in mind when you track a no power item as in most cases a seperate wire carries power from item to item while another supplies power to each individual item.
