I'm no expert on this one, but I also have the phone option in my '95 E-320. If I'm right, it works with Verizon. There are some aftermarket kits to convert over to other models, like ATT's Motorola V-60. If you do a search for other threads you'll find more information.

Okay, you have a phone in the car that integrated with the system. But not activated to use yet, is that rigth?
What kind of phone is it? CDMA or GSM. If not sure, what brand and model #. That would give me some idea on what you need. Typical prices for cell services starts from $19 to $150 per month, depending on how many minutes you need. And it's about $25-35 for activation. Shop around, some might not charge you for activation but require you to sign a year or two years contract with them. T-Mobile and Cingular both have trial period, typical 14 days or you can cancel the services without penalty. But since you had your own phone already, I am not sure how that work. Again, knowing what type of phone you have would be a great help to know what is best for you. If your phone came with the car, then it's most likely to be an anolog phone. Not that many places would have anolog plan anymore. If that's the case, you'd need to upgrade. I have upgraded mine from Mercedes Oki anolog phone to a Nokia 6310i GSM into my car. But you'd need to change the HU to work with it like factory's. |
