w124 Radio cutting out

I Have installed a new Pioneer CD player and everything sounded great at first.
Recently the radio started cutting out. Hitting the breaks will cause the radio to come back on but any bump in the road returns it to its non-working state.

The deck appears to stay on and I can even eject and fast-forward the cd there is just nothing coming out. I checked all of the connections on the back of the radio and when moved non of them will create the same affect. The fuses in the car as well as the fuses on the back of the deck appear to be ok.

Hi Platinumnow.

Sounds like a grounding problem.

Try finding a different ground and hook it
up there.

I assume you used the cars original wiring to
hook up the HU.

Also look to see if the HU casing isn't making
contact with metal.

Lastly see if the wiring isn't wrapped around
the brake pedal somehow.

Louis.

Even if I remove the wire running to the ground the radio will continue to work during the moments that it is functioning so I don't think that thats what it is. As for the break peddle, I don't think its the pedal that causes the radio to start working again i believe its the jarring that causes some wire to be re-connected for a moment.

Well there is your problem.

When removing the ground wire the unit should
shut down and not continue to work.

When you hit a bump the unit is grounding itself
and since you already have a ground wire on the HU.
You now have 2 grounds and somehow when you
press the brake a wire is being pulled and
disconnects one of the grounds.

If I was you I would completely re-wire the HU
and not use the stock wiring.
Connect the live wire to a switched fuse, connect
the pre-set power wire directly to the battery and
connect the ground to a metal part in the dash.

If the problem presists then there is an internal
problem.

Louis.
