antenna swap
The power antenna on my '82 240 D croaked some time ago. I have a new Hirschman Manual antenna to install in it's place. I've assumed this would be easy to do and that the proper steps would be obvious.Wrong!
I can't figure out or see where to insert the end of the cable that runs from the manual antenna. Shouldn't there be a cable to receive this? Can"t it be hooked up to whatever the power antenna used? Please...any help would be really appreciated!! Dave in Boston |

I used to have a manual antenna in my car but I got tired of having to pull it and push it down all the time. I was afraid of leaving it up all the time figuring it would become a target of some vandal. Anyway if you only have the mast, you only have half of the set up. I think you still need the tube that the mast would retract into and that has the connector for the antenna cable. I still have the whole set up except for the chrome bezel and nut that holds the tube to the fender. I used those when I replaced it with an aftermarket Hirschman power antenna. PM me if you are interested in it and would like to make me an offer for it.
