Question TEL muting problem on OEM 93 300E radio

Group,

This morning I started my car and the radio display said "TEL" so I looked it up and it is to mute the radio when your using a factory installed cell phone. Well I don't have one. To add insult to injury the TEL goes on and off intermittantly with no rhyme or reason.

Is there a simple fix or should I ditch this radio and get a cheap replacement?

Trying to save a few bucks since I am not an audiophile, just like to listen to Stern in the morning and classic rock on the way home.

Sometimes its a problem in the deck and sometimes it is the phone harness in the trunk on the drivers side sitting in water or moisture down in the well behind the drivers side rear tire. The test is to pull the head unit and cut the yellow black wire coming out of the center plug in the back deck. If it then still happens then you will need to do a few mods to replace the factory head.
