I am in the process of installing a new electric antenna in my 1978 450 SL. I have also installed a new CD Player/Stereo and it has a power antenna lead comming out of it. I noticed that the OEM antenna lead goes thru a tube opening at the back of the trunk.
Does this tube or conduit go to the front of the car, or just out of the trunk? I do not want to do anything to this car that can't be UN-done. Thanks for your help, Don Solomon Durango, CO 1978 450 SL |

Are you contemplating installing a whole new power unit and mast, or just the mast?
You can get the original unit overhauled by Palo Alto Speedometer - easy to find on the Web. The power antenna wire from the radio should hook in to either the original or the new antenna unit. You need an unswitched pos, a switched pos and a ground to the antenna. The swithched pos comes from the radio. Chuck Chuck |
