Harman Kardon Traffic Pro and 1995 E420 (W124)
I have just realized that Crutchfield is now selling the Harman Kardon Traffic Pro for $500.
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-1rT8n4OmeKk/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=300&I=108TPRO&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= Now I really want to get this for my E420. Questions: 1.) Since this is essentially a Becker unit and the 95's stock head unit is a Becker unit, wouldn't this HK head unit interface with the Mercedes CD Changer? 2.) Is there a harness that I can buy where I could just connect the car's built in amplifiers to this head unit? I am thoroughly satisifed with the stock sound system's sound quality. Thanks -Holson-

The becker traffic pro only works with a becker cd changer not the oem mbz unit. The porsche becker cd changers from 97 on to 2002 will work with the becker traffic pro. The deck will plug straight into your stock radio harness.

Hall effect speed sensor wire color???
Scott: Where can I find the speed sensor wire so I can utilize my Traffic Pro's gps. (87 300D) I was told by Harman/Kardon that because my car has an alarm system and connected to the original Becker, my car could hook up to this Traffic Pro.
I know that my climate control unit utilizes a speed sensor for the Hall effect. I assume this is the wire. Is it color coded? Also, this unit requires a mono subwoofer amplifier. I bought a dual 10" subwoofer trunk speaker. Where can I find a reasonably priced mono amp? Those I find are 200 to 300 bucks! Can I use a two channel $89. WalMart cheapy? I'm planning a continental tour of North and South America in my 300D in 2005/2006 time frame and is why I bought this unit. |

Revised
I found more info on speed sensor connection. In another thread I read where connection of the Hall effect at the climate control causes poor GPS performance but connecting the Traffic pro speed wire directly to the Hall effect sensor eliminates the problem.
Where is the Hall effect sensor on my 87 300D? Sooty Taillight |
