94 SL-500 Bose System

Okay, here goes...
I have had an interesting set of problems with my Bose System. Initially thought problem was Alpine head unit, checked out ok. Next, had to rerun constant power lead to head unit, as this was not sending power to head unit. Now, sound plays intermittently. Amp will come on for 1 second, off for 2 seconds. Head unit stays on the whole time. Cleeve at La Jolla Audio has been kind of walking me through this problem all along the way. I was just about to pack up the Amp to send out, when I noticed something I hadn't before. When this on/off situation is occurring, the courtesy lights in the door panel flicker on/off at the same time as the amp. Also this will only happen when door is closed. If door is open, all bets are off, the amp doesn't come on at all. The only time the courtesy lights work is as described above. Will not go on if door opens. Radio on or not. What the heck is going on here? Is this a 'dealer only' situation, or can a good auto electric shop fix me up. DRIVING ME NUTS!! THE WEATHER FINALLY TURNS NICE, AND NOW THIS!!
Thanx for letting me vent. Any help will be appreciated.

Check for loose or corroded ground. I don't know were the ground for Bose is in your car, but in 140 it is in the trunk on the left wheel housing. Close to the power antenna. You should see a bunch of brown wires connected to the stud on the car body with the nut. If this bad ground shared between Bose and interior lights you might have the problem you're describing here.

myarmar,
Thanx for the reply. A local high-end audio installer is going to check out the amp and wiring harness in the am. Hope it's an easy (inexpensive) fix. Will post results when fixed.

Hi rjcamp,
Did your problem get identified by the shop you took it to?
