126 Subs

Will subs even work well in the trunk since the fuel tank is behind the seat ? I was thinking on a box that would mount up against the rear deck and remove the first aid kit, and rear glove box's for the sound to come thru with some color matching grill to go over the holes. ?????

actually u will get more sound if u remove the first aid kit and aim the trunks towards the back. i have tried both and this way generates more bass since it bounces off the trunk. but yeah u will have to remove the first aid. removing the other compartment wouldn't hurt either.

So, are you saying to just face the sub (SWS1042 Alpine) towards the rear of the trunk ? What do you think of having two Alpine 6X9 3 way in the first aid box and rear glove box, and two 5.25 in. Alpine SWS130A's in the stock holes, and then having the sub breathing into the cabin thru two 3.5 in holes cut thru the sheet metal between the rearwindow and the 6X9,s. For the front I am looking at replacing the 3 in. speakers in the dash with 4X6,s and the doors with the 5.25 Alpines.

I never done 6x9's in the rear compartment. but basically i was saying i tried 2 set ups. one i just faced the sub up so it will fire through the hole which once was the first aid box. and another with it firing at the trunk. the 2nd option provided way more bass than the first. i think u should go ahead with your plan and once u get the sub in there try different positions and see what sounds best.

also i once tried 5.25 in the doors (no dash speakers) basically i made a pod for them to sit in. and the important thing is to have some kind of dsp or set it so that the right one is louder than the one nearest to you. there are some dsp's that will allow you to relay the sound from one speaker so that u can hear them both at the same time.

good luck
