No brake lights, no radio, no antenna, no cruise...
1984 190D. I checked power at the fuse panel and everything checked out fine but for some reason these items are not working.
I can live without the cruise for right now but the other items, i.e. brake lights are really important to me. The previous owner said that #9 fuse kept blowing but now it doesn't but now SOME of the items it provides power to don't work. The radio is not on that same fuse but he said that the radio was working last time the car was driven. Has anyone out there ever chased down multiple electrical gremlins on a w201 190D? Thanks, Kevin |

For starters, I would pull all the fuses out and replace them with new. And when I put them in, I would rotate them in their place so as to set them good.
I have been fooled a few times by a fuse as the thin metal strip can appear intact but upon a real close look you may find one or two actually blown! As I said, "For starters" after that, you will have to look much deeper. |

Check your body to engine and negative battery ground connections. Bad electrical connections do all sorts of weird things in automotive circuits. My father, the electrical engineer, always claimed automotive electrical systems shouldn't work!
A bad ground will cause "positive" voltage to appear in all sorts of strange places. I had a bad headlight ground on the Volvo, and none of the turn signals would work, the key buzzer stayed on all the time, and other weird stuff. Peter

I will check the ground and stuff!
THanks for the help! I hate to work on anything electrical.
