antenna rubber seals

I just received a new antenna rubber seal for my 85 380SL.
The package came with two? One on the outside, one in the inside or is one just extra? Must I remove the antenna from the trunk to put this in place? Does it go in place from inside the trunk? Any thoughts are appreciated. Hard to do for a newbie and not terribly technically inclined?

thanks

Not sure about your 380SL, but the antenna seal on our 1991 300CE is a 2-piece unit. The larger grommet piece is installed from inside the trunk after unbolting the antenna and pulling it down through the grommet ... it's a tight fit. Make sure the new grommet is warm when attempting to insert it in the fender. It require quite a bit of effort to coax it into place. Reinsert the antenna, then install the new cover piece which snaps into place over the grommet.
