moldy air smell

does this fall under detailing?
turning on the heat in the car produces a musty stale smell in the air flow. car is 1985 380sl. if i take of the blower motor cover by the firewall and clean the area (even take the blower motor out and then clean the area) will that help eliminate the smell? where else along the air flow path can i get in and clean it?

1Z make a spray just for this problem. You spray it in the vent intake then run the heatert and defroster for a few minutes and it removes the musty smell.
1Z Oder remover
