wax for cold day application

For your info.

Prestone's email reply:
We do not anticipate a concern if the Prestone High Protection Wax was applied on a day in which temperatures ranged from 35-45 degrees F.

Meguiars and TurtleWax recommend above 50 degrees F.

I can apply Prestone in early March. This is nice, because the wax (I did not decide which wax to apply, but it is likely to be multiple coats of TurtleWax Platinum - TW platinum and Klasse AIO are the only cleaner waxes I know where layering increases protection according to manufacturer -) that I will apply next week will wear out in snow, ice and salt during January and February and my car will have little protection in March.

Wanted to comment, I applied NXT in 35F temps the other day with excellent results. Not sure about durability yet but the beads are tight and the shine/depth is as good as regular temp applications. I didn't even bother to dry the car, I applied it directly on to the wet car.

Real wax on wet car?

Not Eagle One Wax-as-U-dry?

This is very interesting. Did you try other real waxes on wet car?

Prior to using the NXT on a wet car I used the Meguiars Spray Wax although this product was designed to use on a wet car. The spray wax results were OK at best but protection was poor even after the first rain.

If you do decide to use this method I would recommend applying it with a microfiber cloth and changing the surface of the cloth frequently to avoid swirls. You will also end up using a great deal more product as the microfiber will soak most of it. I used the NXT because it's easy to apply and remove and the synthetic/liquid formula allows it to spread easily on a wet car. Living in Maine I'm getting creative with my detailing techniques

If we apply wax that contains Carnauba at such low temperature, do we usually fail?

On the web, I saw someone claiming that he applies Zymol Cleaner Wax in winter. He wrote Zymol Cleaner Wax was good to apply in winter because he did not need to wait until the wax dries and forms haze.

The Zymol Cleaner Wax back label instruction goes like this: work onto paint, then wipe off - it does not say "let it dry", . . . . -.

For spray wax users, Meguiars offers their AWESOME NXT formula in spray form. Just like the Quick Wax, spray on spray off. As of now I have only used it in-between formal NXT wax applications to maintain shine, but seems to be a little more durable than the ol Quick Wax from Meguiars.
